Why do falls happen?

Falls usually have more than one cause. Common ones include reduced leg strength, changes in balance, feeling dizzy or light-headed on standing, some medicines, eyesight changes, unsuitable footwear, trip hazards at home, and fear of falling. Falls are also more likely after an illness or a hospital stay.

What a home physio visit involves

Exercise and confidence

Martine builds a personalised strength and balance programme around your home and the things you want to keep doing. Practising everyday tasks in your own surroundings aims to help rebuild confidence and keep you steady and independent. Family members are welcome to join in and learn how to help.

When to speak to your GP

Please speak to your GP if falls are new or happening more often, if you have blacked out, or if you have been injured. Physio can work alongside your GP and NHS team.

Areas Covered

Martine visits people at home across Helensburgh (including Rhu, Cardross, Craigendoran and Garelochhead), Dumbarton, Clydebank, and Alexandria, Balloch and the Vale of Leven. Not sure if your address is covered? Please request a call back and we will let you know.
